Sewer Division

Overview

The Sewer Division is responsible for the collection of all wastewater and its transmission to North Texas Municipal Water District's regional lift station. This service includes the operation, maintenance, and repair of all sewer lines, manholes, and lift stations connected to the wastewater collection system. The City of Princeton has approximately 76.7 miles of wastewater lines throughout the city.

Do's & Don'ts

Don't Pour Your Grease!

Did you know when you pour your cooking grease down the drain it collects not only clogs your personal drains but collects in the sewer system forming a solid "grease log". This "grease log" obstructs the sewer lines, which can cause the sewer to back up into homes and places of business.

Do Leave the Manholes Covered!

Manholes are covered and bolted for the protection of our sewer system and our citizens. Please do NOT tamper with or remove manhole covers. Removing a manhole cover can be a deadly mistake! Manholes can contain poisonous gases that can lead to serious illness or even death!

Check Your Clean-Outs!

Clean-outs for your home service lines are located on your service line coming from your home and look like two white pipes sticking up out of the ground. These clean-outs should have caps on them to get keep the debris and rainwater out of the system.

You should check the clean-out periodically to make sure caps are in place. If you need to call a plumber for possible sewer problems, please call the City of Princeton first so that we may check our main so you are not out the expense of a plumber due to the main stoppage. Please make sure your clean-outs are visible and accessible.

Sewer On-Call

Did you know that the Sewer Division has an employee on-call, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? 365 days a year? If you need assistance after regular business hours, please call the Non-Emergency line: 972-736-2711 and they will dispatch the on-call Sewer employee.
