[ARCHIVED] Princeton Police Investigation Social Media Warning / Aggravated Sexual Assault of Child

Released 05/15/2023

On May 10th, 2023, at approximately 12:50 am, Princeton Police Department officers located a suspicious vehicle (Black Infiniti Q50) on Island Way.  Officer Goodwin contacted 2 individuals that were in the vehicle.  After identifying the 2 subjects, Officer Goodwin learned that the female in the vehicle was 13 years of age and the 2nd individual was 23 years of age, male Juan Miguel Vasquez.  After conducting further investigation of the incident, Officer Goodwin determined that the adult male had sexual intercourse with the 13 years of age female. After investigations were conducted Princeton Police Investigators discovered that the two had met on snap chat and that Vasquez had coerced the juvenile to meet him.

Vasquez was arrested and transported to Collin County Sheriff's Office Jail being booked in on charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Possession of Marijuana less than two ounces.

The internet and social media, for all its benefits, also give criminals and predators an easy way to reach young people.   Princeton Police Department ask that those with children and teens to monitor their online/social media activity have open and ongoing conversations about safe and proper online behavior. There is a huge increase in the number of cases involving children and teens being threatened and coerced into sending explicit images, meeting up with online strangers, and sharing videos.
