If an inspection is required because of the construction process, or because a business is licensed by an agency that requires an inspection, please prepare by walking through the space and correcting any obvious problems prior to the inspection date. The inspection then will go more quickly and be much more likely to pass.
If the inspector feels that the property was not prepared for the inspection, or no one was there to meet him or her, Fire Marshal’s Office may charge a re-inspection that must be paid in person at the Princeton City Hall prior to rescheduling. The same fee also can be applied if the customer calls to cancel an inspection any time after noon on the day prior to the scheduled inspection. These fees have made it possible to maintain a turnaround time of 1 to 5 days for scheduling an inspection by cutting down on the number of failed inspections and cancelled inspections.
